Infinite God – IV

Note: This blog would make better sense after reading the Infinite God blog posts or at least Infinite God II.

My mind was working at full speed processing the events of the previous week, when my train rolled into the station, hauled by locomotives 45 and 147. Although 47 is one sign God have used to speak to me for more than a decade and 147 very frequently over the past 4 years; 45 became relevant to me only after my 50th birthday. I chose to spend my birthday at a location my late father visited 45 years ago. Afterward, I realized how God had that day in his hands, with so many of His fingerprints combining for a moment in time. (Infinite God II )

Since my birthday many battles entered our lives, some of them I believe inserted by God. The battles inserted by God however, were opportunities to act according to the example set by Jesus Christ. Not only was the purpose to honor God, but at the same time to fill the spiritual bowls (Rev 5:8) in heaven for God to pour out and release His power when needed.

Caleb in the Bible is often related to 45. What distinguished Caleb was his faith in Father-God and courage, his patience and his submission to God and God’s timing. He acted without letting what he observed deter him.

That evening I understood that faith would be required for what was ahead but that God’s infinite reach would be right behind me – IF I stayed on the track, not let the obstructions deter me and moved when He did; because we (master and servant) were linked together.

God showed His face at critical times. One such occasion was after a time of prayer, when my wife and I went for a walk. At a distance, a large 18 wheeler truck with a big logo on the side passed by on the highway. A mere five minutes later, the same truck passed by going in the opposite direction. The logo on the truck looked like that of another company we had been dealing with. This logo was unique and we have never seen it before in the state that we live in. That day God confirmed that we should change direction on a matter, in answer to our prayers.

Several weeks later, I woke up very early and decided to watch a ministry program on a channel that I hadn’t watched for ages. The message from the minister was about Psalm 37 and the importance of waiting on God with patience, which shows you trust Him. As soon as the program finished, my phone pinged. It was an email from a business contact at 4:47am, telling me “Now is a good time..”. Needless to say, I engaged regarding the matter.

In the weeks that followed, a person that I was doing a joint project with, experienced a family emergency and abruptly asked that we delay our scheduled plans. Although it it was inconvenient for us, I decided to delay with double the time he asked for, shifting several weeks. This also meant that my wife and I would not be able to take time off during a month that normally works for us. I felt that this matter was related to an important battle we were engaged in. At the time, I told my wife I would not be surprised if this would all resolve around the date I delayed our engagement to. Several weeks later exactly on the newly set date, our major battle was also indeed won.

The example that Jesus set is clear. Treat others like you want to be treated (not like they treat you). Endeavor to lay down your priorities (life) when the opportunity arise and leave the rest to God. (Matthew 16:25).

So many times over the years I have seen God “take care of the rest” when you honor Him by following the example of Jesus. Many are not willing to “do the work” and thus never experience God’s power, but God is faithful to His word.

We can accomplish nothing without God no matter how hard we work, but when God says go, it is time to do the work in faith alongside Him. While we wait, the work is to trust God and display that trust by worshiping Him and proclaiming His word; not to nag Him about something you said you trusted Him for.

While I waited, I studied and equipped myself with subject matter knowledge that I later needed and pursued what God put in front of me, regardless if it was in my worldly interest. Every turn, every detour and every obstacle presents itself with an opportunity, as long as we remain close to God and are willing to learn and submit; to under pressure continue to act upright.

God is infinite, indescribable and faithful in this life and the next. Lasting faith is measured in weeks, months and years.

Yes, I have lost battles in my life, but in every struggle there is the reward of getting to know God better, improving and understanding the grace available only by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed day.
